I bet Ward had fun writing it too.Īnyway, in terms of the actual story, it's a basic romance plot. And all the ridiculous slang! But all the different elements come together to form a pretty unique world, and I enjoyed reading about it. There's one that's a die hard fan of the Red Sox. They are super macho, centuries-old alpha males who listen to rap music, wear lots of leather and turtlenecks (lol), and act like frat boys with each other. They use an arsenal of weapons which not only include the usual daggers and guns but also shuriken and modern technology (I believe Vishous was referred to as an IT genius at one point). Our main hero is Wrath, his fellow warriors are Tohrment, Rhage, Phury, Vishous, and Zsadist. This book is simply ridiculous, in the best way possible. Ward for taking the cliches and really making something of her own out of them.

There's plenty of sap and melodrama and saccharine exchanges of "I love you"s (though surprisingly less sex than I was expecting), and the whole thing is as cheesy as you'd imagine. Vampire's angsty past, then live happily ever after. They fall in love, fight against some enemies, deal with Mr. When you boil it down, this book is really just a string of cliches- innocent heroine discovers she is actually half-vampire, meets the vampire king (tall, dark, and handsome, of course) who is charged with protecting her, who also happens to give her her first orgasms ever. And so begins the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Naturally, these musclebound supernatural beings are secretly tortured souls who just need a good woman to melt their hearts.
